Our client, one of the region’s most respected energy operators with a track record of operational excellence, rigorous safety standards, and a deeply values-driven culture, is conducting a targeted search for an Aviation Superintendent. The successful candidate will be responsible for championing aviation safety and risk management, protecting people and the environment. The position requires strong operational credibility, sound judgment, and the ability to lead with integrity while balancing safety, regulatory compliance, and business priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership for all aviation operations - fixed-wing, rotary, and RPAS
  • Ensure full compliance with NCAA regulations, ICAO and IOGP standards, and company aviation requirements
  • Manage and optimise relationships with aviation contractors, aircraft owners, air traffic control agencies, and service providers
  • Drive risk intelligence, operational risk management, aviation assurance, audits, incident/accident investigations, and crisis response
  • Oversee aviation infrastructure: the company airstrip and its facilities, all company-owned onshore and offshore helidecks and helipads, aviation fuel storage, fuel quality control, and dispensing systems
  • Manage contracted aviation support personnel including Air Traffic Control, Helideck Landing Officers (HLOs/HDA), ground operations staff, and AVSEC personnel
  • Develop, monitor, and present aviation safety and performance KPIs to senior leadership; identify and drive improvement initiatives and best practice adoption
  • Participate in developing the Aviation Annual Budget; monitor performance and support business unit goals for Local Content Development
  • Drive the annual regulatory facility permit renewal process; liaise with internal stakeholders to close action items and maintain full facility compliance
  • Support major capital projects by aligning aviation services requirements with business and procurement priorities
  • Lead, mentor, and build leadership depth within the aviation function, supporting succession planning across ATC, helideck operations, and ground operations teams
  • Required skill
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-aircraft fleets across rotary and/or fixed-wing operations, including offshore and remote environments.
  • Deep knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and aviation assurance frameworks; proficiency in industry SMS tools such as PRISM, Q-Pulse, SMS-Pro, or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of NCAA, ICAO, and IOGP regulatory and guidance requirements.
  • Experience in planning and directing aviation support services including training, aviation fuel quality control, helideck/heliport operations, and aviation security (AVSEC).Knowledge of aircraft maintenance management methods, continuing airworthiness management, and maintenance quality control.
  • Proven engagement with aviation regulators and audit processes; demonstrated command-level operational credibility and aviation judgment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills; confident presenter with strong analytical and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across broad functional and organisational lines, including with regulatory bodies and Joint Venture partner stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership behaviours: builds trust through clear communication, mentors team members, and champions a culture of safety and integrity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Experience in commercial, offshore, or complex aviation operations strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of local aviation regulations and operations within the oil and gas sector.
Experience

Minimum 15 years' aviation operations experience, including direct support to oil and gas environments with 5–10 years in a senior operational leadership role: Chief Pilot, Standards Captain, Training Captain, Managing Pilot, Fleet Manager, or equivalent civilian or military capacity.


Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and/or Sciences, or related disciplines. Airline Transport Pilot License (current or formerly held) or equivalent professional aviation qualification.
