Nigerian Air Force Recruitment 2026 for Tradesmen/Women and Non-Tradesmen/Women

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced the commencement of applications for its 2026 recruitment exercise into the Basic Military Training Course (BMTC 47/2026).

Applications are open to suitably qualified Nigerian men and women interested in joining the Nigerian Air Force as Tradesmen/Women or Non-Tradesmen/Women.

Online registration begins on September 3, 2026 and closes on October 14, 2026. Application is completely free.

About the Nigerian Air Force Recruitment

The Basic Military Training Course is an entry route into the Nigerian Air Force for eligible Nigerians who meet the required educational, age, physical, medical and other recruitment standards.

For the 2026 exercise, candidates can apply under two main categories:
  • Tradesmen/Women
  • Non-Tradesmen/Women
The qualifications and age requirements differ between the two categories, so applicants should ensure they select the appropriate option when completing their application.

General Eligibility Requirements  

All applicants must:
  • Be Nigerian citizens by birth
  • Meet the required age requirements for their chosen category
  • Meet the Nigerian Air Force’s medical, physical and psychological fitness standards
  • Have no previous criminal conviction by a court of law
  • Meet the minimum height requirement
  • Possess the appropriate educational qualifications for their chosen category

Height Requirements

Applicants must not be less than:
  • Male: 1.66 metres
  • Female: 1.63 metres 
Applicants must also be medically, physically and psychologically fit and satisfy Nigerian Air Force medical and employment standards.

Tradesmen/Women Requirements

Applicants applying as Tradesmen/Women must be between 18 and 27 years old by March 1, 2027.

Candidates with ND or NCE qualifications must:
  • Possess at least Lower Credit from an accredited institution
  • Have a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English
  • Obtain the required credits in not more than two sittings
  • Present results from recognised examinations such as WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS
Drivers and Other Trade Applicants

Applicants applying as drivers and in other relevant trades that require a Trade Test must:
  • Have a minimum of five credits, including Mathematics and English
  • Obtain the credits in not more than two sittings
  • Possess the relevant Trade Test Certificate
Drivers must additionally possess a valid driving licence.

Sportsmen/Women

Applicants applying as sportsmen or sportswomen must provide evidence of their professional sporting experience.

Supporting evidence should include relevant:
  • Certificates
  • Medals
Non-Tradesmen/Women Requirements

Applicants applying as Non-Tradesmen/Women must be between 18 and 22 years old by March 1, 2027.

Candidates must possess:
  • A minimum of five credits
  • Mathematics
  • English Language
  • Required credits obtained in not more than two sittings
  • Results from WAEC, NECO, GCE, NABTEB or NBAIS
Applicants are also required to possess their:Primary School Certificate
Secondary School Testimonial

Documents Required After Application

After successfully completing the online application, candidates should print the following documents:
  • Acknowledgement Form
  • Parent/Guardian Consent Form
  • Local Government Area Attestation Form
The Local Government Area Attestation Form must be appropriately signed by an authorised person specified by the Nigerian Air Force.

These can include:

  • A military officer from the applicant’s state who meets the specified rank requirement
  • A Police Officer of the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police or above
  • A substantive Local Government Chairman or Secretary
  • A Magistrate from the applicant’s state of origin
The attestation form must also be accompanied by the required identification documents of the person signing it.

Applicants who do not successfully complete their online application will not be able to generate the required forms.

Selection Process

After applications close, successful applicants will proceed to subsequent stages of the Nigerian Air Force recruitment process.

A Zonal General Aptitude Test will be conducted for successful applicants.

The date of the aptitude test will be communicated through the official Nigerian Air Force Recruitment Portal.

Only candidates who successfully pass the required stages will be invited for the Selection Interview.
